My recipe for this fine herbal syrup includes the use of additional berries and roots to compliment this deep hued elixir.


ingredients

Dried Elderberries (2 cups fresh)
Raw Honey
Cinnamon Sticks
Grated Ginger
Water
 

  • 1 cup

  • 2 cups

  • 2 tbsp

  • 4-5 cups

Servings: 4


instructions

  1. Put all ingredients except honey in a large saucepan. Cover and heat over medium heat bringing to a boil

  2. Once boiling, turn down to simmer for 20-30 minutes

  3. Remove from heat and strain into a glass bowl or Pyrex through a fine mesh sieve with a double layer of cheesecloth

  4. Press to extract all juice and let cool

  5. Add honey and pour into jars or bottles

  6. Keep refrigerated for 2-3 months (if you don't consume it all by then!) or process in a hot water bath for longer storage. Keep refrigerated once opened
